What does your art mean to you?

My artwork shows how I made the UK “my place” since coming here in 2002. I came here because my friend invited me to demonstrate Filipino weaving techniques at the British Museum. When I arrived, I made lots of Filipino friends and they introduced me to ways of making a living here. This allowed me to support my mother in the Philippines who has to buy insulin for her diabetes.

The photo in the artwork is of my husband. My life is here now and this is why I consider the UK my home. For me, home is where you are welcome, where you are loved, where you have community.
